The article is devoted to the issue of effective foreign language teaching in the context of multiculturalism, globalization and humanization in the modern world. The aim of the study is to identify an effective approach in foreign language teaching, which allows embedding cross-culture aspect promoting the value of interaction between culture and language. The main objective of this approach is to develop socio-cultural competence enabling learners to communi-cate internationally. The study is based on the focus group of students of secondary vocational education (ANPEO "College VIVT"). The key findings include the main concepts of socio-cultural approach as well as the description of the most effective pedagogical conditions. The latter largely depend on the combination of teaching and upbringing, which directly effects the success of development of socio-cultural competence in students of secondary vocational education.
