UDC 331.522
The article substantiates the importance of solving the problem of increasing the efficiency of employment on the basis of minimizing gender disparities. The analysis of the existing regulatory and legal documents shows that the institutional support in the studied area is insufficient. The absence of a targeted state policy of gender equality leads to gender asymmetry in the modern Russian labor market. This problem is considered in the article in relation to young highly educated women. Methodology and methods: segmentation is considered as a tool for regulating employment on the basis of distinctive features that characterize not only male and female employment, but also employment within gender groups; the proposed methodology is based on the identification of specific features of women's employment in modern Russia; the definition of measures to reduce gender asymmetry is based on the author's classification of factors that affect the gender processes of the labor market. Results and discussion: education selectively performs the function of a social elevator, increasing inequality, and highly educated young women experience all the manifestations of segregation and discrimination in the labor market; the basic objective basis for the differentiation of young educated women should be three objective signs from among the economic and social factors: the availability of employment; marital status; the presence of children; measures to reduce the gender asymmetry of the labor market should be developed in a targeted manner, taking into account the proposed differentiation. The main conclusion is that the transition to a new paradigm of effective employment inevitably involves overcoming gender discrimination in the labor market.
