There are various approaches to computer-aided design of objects of complex geometric shape. The article discusses the methodology of designing such objects on the example of a machine-building part. The process of computer-aided design of a part consists in using a 3D scanner to obtain a polygonal model and import it into a CAD system to create a solid-state editable model. The stages of obtaining a digital image with subsequent analysis, data import and the results of reverse engineering are presented.
