Development of an Information and Communication Decision Support System for Electronic Device Selection Based on the Analytic Hierarchy Process

This paper considers an applied decision support problem related to the selection of electronic devices under conditions of multicriteria decision-making and a large number of alternatives. It is shown that traditional approaches to selecting electronic devices based on subjective user preferences do not provide sufficient justification for the decisions made. The Analytic Hierarchy Process is used as a tool for formalizing the selection procedure, enabling the consideration of the relative importance of criteria and the verification of the consistency of expert judgments. An information and communication system has been developed that implements this method and provides automated rating of alternatives. The problem model, the algorithmic framework of the method, the system architecture, and the results of a control experiment on smartphone selection are presented. The obtained results confirm the feasibility of applying the proposed system to practical electronic device selection tasks.
