The article analyzes some problems arising in the course of researching medical and social characteristics of patients with various diseases. The authors suggest such solutions as comparative analysis of the medical-and-social indicators of persons compared on the basis of the chisquare Pierson's criterion, conversion of qualitative indicators to a numerical form, and the subsequent investigation of their interrelation on the basis of parametric and nonparametric criteria; study of the importance of medical-and-social risk factors on the basis of Student t-statistics; construction of classification models for the purpose of revealing individuals with a high risk of disease; construction of regression models for predicting the development of diseases at the individual level.
