Employee Career Development as a Resource for Achieving Organizational Goals: An Overview of Theoretical Approaches and Practical Mechanisms

The article examines the role of personnel professional development management in the context of strategic management and personnel retention. The author summarizes the existing scientific interpretations of the concept of "career", and suggests the author's systematization of the types of career routes. The content of the key tools used to build a career development system is disclosed: competence models, personnel reserve, personal development plans, career directions (administrative, professional, cross-functional, project), mentoring, rotational movements and internal selection. It shows how career mechanisms relate to the long-term priorities of the company and contribute to the consolidation of valuable employees. Practical recommendations on the organization of the personnel promotion system are formulated.
